Innovate Mississippi
Provides startup support in Mississippi through proposal guidance, seed funding pathways, and connections to ecosystem investors.
Innovate Mississippi is a nonprofit innovation intermediary that supports Mississippi's startup ecosystem rather than a state agency. It serves entrepreneurs, investors, manufacturers, and job seekers, and it is the delivery partner behind part of MDA's SSBCI capital.
Its named programs are small but concrete: the Mississippi Seed Fund pairs a $10,000 proof-of-concept grant with a $25,000 loan funded by the state legislature, and MS-FAST covers up to $3,000 in SBIR proposal-prep costs for Mississippi small businesses. It also delivers MDA's SSBCI Venture Capital tranche of $15 million and Direct Investment tranche of $11 million under the InvestMS brand, while running the Mississippi Angel Investor Network, Founders Plus for women and minority startups, and annual pitch events.
The organization is most useful at the earliest stages, when a founder needs proposal support, a small catalytic check, or an investor introduction. Its role is intentionally intermediary: it links state capital, SBIR preparation, and angel activity without being a government body itself.
