WV Jobs Investment Trust (JIT) Board
Administers WV Jobs Investment Trust Board with equity and debt tools for minority investment in West Virginia businesses.
West Virginia Jobs Investment Trust, often called WVJIT, is a West Virginia public venture capital fund created in 1992 to develop, promote, and expand the state economy. It sits inside the state's economic development system and backs companies that can create jobs, strengthen local ownership, and widen the industrial base in West Virginia.
WVJIT invests in early-stage, later-stage, and mature small companies that want to expand. Its core instruments are convertible preferred equity and subordinated loans with warrants or options to buy stock, and it also runs the West Virginia Capital Access Program with seed co-investment, subordinated debt, collateral support, and technical assistance for creditworthy small businesses that do not fit traditional lending.
The fund acts as a minority investor rather than an operating partner. It looks for strong management teams, growing markets, proprietary products or services, and businesses located in West Virginia that benefit the state workforce; its model is patient capital with a three- to five-year horizon and board-level strategic support.
