WVCAP Technical Assistance

Offers WVCAP technical assistance with free advisory services to improve readiness for financing and operations.

The WVCAP Technical Assistance program is an in-kind advisory service delivered through Partner Community Capital (a CDFI) and a network of regional partners under the WVCAP umbrella, jointly administered by the West Virginia Jobs Investment Trust (WVJIT) and the West Virginia Economic Development Authority (WVEDA) with SSBCI federal funding. The program provides free business advisory and support services to West Virginia small businesses — particularly those seeking capital access through WVCAP's financing programs but needing preparation assistance first.

Services delivered include audit preparation, business formation support, access-to-credit guidance, digitizing financial records, business contracts, obtaining registrations and licenses, advisory services and training, transfers of ownership, and identification of capital sources. The delivery network includes Partner Community Capital, The Center for Rural Health Development, Wyoming County EDA, Regional Economic Development Partnership, Woodlands Development and Lending, and INNOVA Commercialization Group. Eligibility is open to for-profit businesses and nonprofits operating in West Virginia across all sectors.

Because this program delivers services rather than cash, there is no monetary award. The program is best used as an on-ramp to WVCAP's capital programs — applicants who need to clean up financial records, establish legal structure, or understand their financing options are the primary intended audience. Combining technical assistance with a subsequent collateral support or subordinated debt application is the intended pathway for small businesses that are not yet capital-ready.
