SRIW Equity Investment
Invests in Walloon industrial, healthcare, and technology companies with minority equity for scale and strategic development.
SRIW Equity is the direct equity investment programme of Wallonie Entreprendre (WE), the public investment and development institution that was formed by the merger of SRIW (Société Régionale d'Investissement de Wallonie), SOWALFIN, and SOGEPA under the Walloon regional government. SRIW's historical core activity — taking minority equity stakes in Walloon industrial, deep-tech, healthcare, biotech, and infrastructure companies — continues as the 'pôle Capital' division of WE. The programme is evergreen and deal-by-deal: there is no application cycle or competitive deadline. Ticket sizes typically range from €1 million to €25 million per investment, with holding periods of five to ten years.
The target investee profile is a Wallonia-based company in a capital-intensive sector — historically including industrial manufacturing, life sciences, biotech, medtech, and energy transition — that requires patient strategic capital to grow, restructure, or internationalise. WE takes minority stakes and acts as a long-term industrial shareholder rather than a financial investor seeking a near-term exit. This is a corporate-finance equity product, not a grant programme; there is no repayment-free award and no non-dilutive component. Grants in the Walloon region flow through separate bodies such as SPW Économie, DGO6, and the Agence pour l'Entreprise et l'Innovation (AEI).
Companies seeking SRIW Equity funding typically engage through direct relationship with Wallonie Entreprendre's Capital division or through referral from Walloon Enterprise intermediaries. The process is bilateral and relationship-driven: WE conducts proprietary due diligence, negotiates investment terms, and approves commitments at board level. Eligibility centres on having substantive operations and job creation in Wallonia, alongside credible strategic rationale and a management team capable of executing a growth or transformation plan with WE as an active minority partner.
Takes minority equity stakes of €1–25 million in Walloon industrial, deep-tech, healthcare, and biotech companies through the Wallonie Entreprendre Capital division, formerly SRIW standalone.
