Nordplus — seed
Runs research teams and institutions for Nordplus in cross-sector innovation.
Nordplus is the Nordic Council of Ministers' central programme for lifelong learning and educational cooperation across the Nordic and Baltic regions, with an annual budget of approximately EUR 9 million. The programme spans eight participating countries: Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Its core aims are to strengthen Nordic educational cooperation, contribute to the development of a shared Nordic-Baltic educational region, and promote Nordic languages and mutual cultural understanding. For Danish organisations, UFSN (the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science) serves as the national contact and co-administers distribution of Danish-allocated funds.
Nordplus funds five distinct sub-programmes: Nordplus Junior (school education), Nordplus Higher Education, Nordplus Adult (adult learning), Nordplus Horizontal (cross-sectoral cooperation), and Nordplus Nordic Languages. Each sub-programme has its own eligibility criteria, project types, and award ranges, published annually through the central portal at nordplusonline.org. Eligible organisations include educational institutions, youth organisations, and other non-profit entities engaged in formal or non-formal education; for-profit companies are not eligible. Participants must be based in one of the eight Nordic-Baltic member countries, and projects typically require partners from at least two participating countries.
The programme follows an annual call cycle, with a typical application deadline in February of each year; 2026 cycle activity is confirmed. Applications are submitted through nordplusonline.org. The 2026 Nordplus call is open to projects addressing a broad range of educational cooperation themes. UFSN can be contacted for Danish-specific guidance at ufs@ufm.dk or +45 7231 7800. The programme runs on a multi-year framework consistent with the Nordic Council of Ministers' budget cycles.
