EIT RawMaterials KAVA Call 14 — Upscaling
Supports research teams and institutions for EIT RawMaterials KAVA Upscaling in materials science, energy systems, and climate technology.
Eligibility · EU member states
EIT RawMaterials KAVA Call 14 – Upscaling is an open grant competition funding multi-partner European consortia to advance raw materials innovations from TRL 5 to at least TRL 8. EIT RawMaterials is a Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, founded in 2015 and headquartered in Berlin, with over 350 university partners and a track record of more than 220 innovation projects brought to market. The Upscaling track specifically targets projects in mining, materials processing, recycling, circular economy, advanced materials, and substitution, and has two submission cut-off windows in 2026: 24 June 2026 at 13:00 CET and 16 October 2026 at 13:00 CET.
Per-project EIT co-financing ranges from €500,000 to €2,500,000, covering up to 50% of the total project budget; the applying consortium must supply the remaining 50% as a combination of cash and in-kind contributions. Projects run for up to 2.5 years. A consortium must include at least two partners from different Horizon Europe-eligible countries, represent at least two sides of the knowledge triangle (education, research, industry/business), and include at least one existing EIT RawMaterials Core or Associate Partner. Commercialising partners must absorb a minimum 50% of the EIT funding they receive. Proposals must include a market analysis, Go-to-Market strategy, and an environmental impact assessment where applicable.
Applications are submitted through EIT RawMaterials' SeedBook platform, which also provides access to KAVA Call experts for guidance during preparation. Organisations new to EIT RawMaterials must commit to becoming members if their project is selected; the lead project participant must hold KIC Partner status by the project start date. Strong applications demonstrate a credible path to TRL 8, a clear route to commercialisation, and a consortium that genuinely spans the knowledge triangle across multiple European countries. Both cut-off dates are binding, and shorter project timelines are viewed favourably in evaluation.
