OpenEuropean CommissionEU

As resources get scarcer, criminal networks move into water, food, minerals and land — and climate-driven displacement opens new ground for trafficking and exploitation. Illegal mining, illegal logging, wildlife trafficking, carbon credit fraud, water theft, and looting after disasters are all growing in this space, alongside n

Building and proving specialised skills, technology (including forensics), and training that let Police Authorities detect, investigate, and respond to crime linked to climate change: environmental crime, resource-scarcity-driven organised crime, climate-migration-linked trafficking, wildlife trafficking, and climate-linked financial crime such as carbon credit fraud. The consortium must include at least 2 Police Authorities, from 2 different countries, as beneficiaries, genuine Social Sciences and Humanities expertise, and is expected to engage the Europol Innovation Lab plus, for the training side of the work, CEPOL.
