Grand Solutions is Innovation Fund Denmark's flagship grant for large multi-partner R&I consortia. The programme funds ambitious interdisciplinary projects that create new specific solutions to societal and economic challenges in Denmark.

Project size is typically DKK 5-40 million, with the Fund covering up to 75 percent of total project costs for SMEs and research organizations. Large enterprises receive proportionally less under EU State Aid GBER rules (typically 25-50 percent depending on R&D activity classification).

Application is two-stage: Phase 1 open call for proposals, then invited Phase 2 for shortlisted consortia. For the 2026 Critical and Digital Technologies call, Phase 1 closes 3 March 2026, with Phase 1 responses by end of spring 2026, and Phase 2 deadline 10 September 2026.

The 2026 Critical and Digital Technologies call has a minimum budget of DKK 275.6 million, with explicit earmarks of DKK 88 million for Space technologies, DKK 80 million for AI, and DKK 10 million for Defence. Green Technology and Life Science have their own annual calls with separate budget envelopes.

Consortia typically include at least one company (SME or large), one research organization (university, GTS, contract research institute), and one user or value-chain partner. Eligibility requires Danish-registered consortium members with operations in Denmark. The grant administration model uses a designated project Administrator who receives funds in arrears based on submitted and approved financial reports.
