Made in Europe: Circular Factory Remanufacturing
Funds €5–6.5M research projects that automate factory de-manufacturing and remanufacturing for a more circular European industry.
European factories need ways to keep products and components useful for longer instead of losing their value when they reach the end of a first use. This topic funds research into the factory processes and automation needed to make de-manufacturing and remanufacturing a practical industrial market.
Projects must address at least three technology areas. These can include multimodal sensing, AI and…
Developing factory-level technologies for de-manufacturing and re-manufacturing, addressing at least three areas: condition analysis and predictive maintenance; AI and robot-assisted disassembly, handling, sorting and logistics; CAD and digital-twin systems; local repair or remanufacturing of high-value components; and sequencing operations around incoming product characteristics. Projects must include a business case and exploitation strategy, and should retain, reuse, upgrade or adapt product functions while building skills, standards and safety practices.
