Advanced Photonic Devices and Circuits
Funds six €3–5M research projects that make integrated photonic circuits more capable, compact and power-efficient.
Integrated photonics can improve communications, computing, sensing, medical diagnostics and AI systems, but wider adoption depends on devices that do more while using less power and fitting into practical system architectures. This topic funds research into photonic devices and circuits with extended functionality, integration and performance.

A Research and Innovation Action for advanced integrated photonic devices and circuits with extended functionality and ultra-low power consumption. Proposals must address at least two areas such as spectral and noise performance, faster modulation or detection with novel materials, complex miniaturised circuits and electronics-photonics integration, or lower conversion losses, cooling needs and control power. Projects should demonstrate system-level advances in representative configurations for digital, automotive, industrial, health or security applications, starting at TRL 3 and reaching TRL 6.
