Horizon Concentrated Solar Heat for Industry
Funds two €6M projects to supply industrial processes with concentrated solar heat, storage and at least 50% annual solar coverage.
Industrial processes need reliable heat, much of it currently supplied by fossil fuels. Concentrated solar thermal systems can provide renewable heat at useful industrial temperatures, especially when combined with storage, but they need to be demonstrated in real processes and under real solar conditions. This topic funds two Innovation Actions to do that.
Projects should integrate concentrated …
Demonstrating concentrated solar thermal systems, storage and heat integration for industrial process heat between 150°C and 400°C. Projects should achieve at least a 50% yearly solar fraction, operate continuously for six months, prove an economically feasible business case and lower Levelised Cost of Heating, address surface and process integration constraints, and reach TRL 7 with a go/no-go deployment decision and full engineering, permit, business and implementation plans.
