Ukraine's forests have been damaged by the war and face added pressure from climate change and biodiversity loss. Rebuilding the sector needs more than restoration work: decision-makers need reliable data, stronger institutions, modern research and education, and rules that can move toward EU standards. Supporting Ukraine's post-war forest recovery through research, policy and capacity-building actions. The project should strengthen forest research and education, improve governance and sustainable management, digitise the national forest cadastre, establish continuous forest monitoring, build international partnerships and align forestry legislation, inspection systems and standards with EU rules. It must include a Ukrainian research institution or relevant public authority and engage authorities, forest owners and managers, communities, civil society, industry and education providers.
