Forest Creation Grant
Support for tree planting, woodland creation and habitat connections
The Forest Creation Grant supports landowners and tenants to plant trees, create new woodland and build thriving wooded landscapes. It is for those with land inside, or close to, the National Forest boundary who can enter into a legal agreement and demonstrate legal control of the land.

The grant supports creating new woodland, enhancing and connecting habitats, protecting livestock, soils or crops, and developing innovative woodland-based products. It cannot fund projects that do not benefit the National Forest or its communities; schemes under 0.25 hectares; work required under planning conditions, a Felling Licence or Restocking Notice; work already funded through other grants; recoverable VAT; buildings, vehicles and similar capital items; work completed before a grant offer; projects with a more suitable alternative funding source; woodland created solely for short-rotation coppice; Christmas tree production; activities that may damage habitats, archaeology, geology or heritage features; or projects that degrade or restrict access to the countryside.
