Horizon Water & Nutrient Resilience for Farms
Funds two €6M projects to help farms manage scarce water and nutrients with affordable monitoring, AI decision tools and better public data.
Farmers face more uncertain water supplies, rising input costs and changing climate conditions while needing to protect soil, air, water and biodiversity. This topic funds two projects that turn better farm data into practical decisions about water and nutrient use.
Projects can study the links between plants, soil, water, air and nitrogen and phosphorus across different farming systems and clima…
Developing and testing affordable monitoring devices, AI-enabled decision support systems and public training datasets that help farms manage scarce water and nutrients across different pedoclimatic regions. Projects should connect soil, water, air, plant and nutrient data to farm-management systems, assess pollution and biodiversity effects, address trust and accessibility barriers, cover varied systems including organic farming, and reach TRL 4-5 with a multi-actor consortium.
