Innovative healthcare interventions for non-communicable diseases
Funds €7–8M projects that validate innovative interventions for cardiovascular, metabolic, respiratory or kidney disease.
Non-communicable diseases account for most of Europe’s disease burden and avoidable premature deaths. The topic funds clinical validation of interventions that can improve treatment and disease management after prevention has failed. Stage 1 is a blind outline; Stage 2 should present the full clinical design, feasibility evidence, recruitment plan, patient selection and regulatory pathway.

This two-stage Research and Innovation Action supports rigorous early-stage clinical trials of novel or refined pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for treatment and disease management in cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases or chronic kidney diseases. Proposals must build on completed proof of clinical safety and efficacy, a completed draft protocol and preliminary ethics and regulatory consultations, then validate the intervention in appropriately selected and recruited patient populations.
