Urban Nature Restoration for Climate-Neutral Cities
Funds four €10M innovation actions that restore urban nature, tree canopy and connected green spaces with cities and communities.
Cities need more connected urban nature to reduce heat, manage water, support biodiversity and improve daily life. This action funds practical pilots that restore and expand urban green space and tree canopy in lead cities, including along transport networks and in the built environment.
Projects should test locally suitable, preferably native planting and maintenance approaches; address barriers…
An Innovation Action that deploys and tests urban nature restoration, green-space and tree-canopy measures in at least two pilot sites in two lead cities, including a site along an urban transport network or in the built environment. Each project must involve entities from at least four cities in different Member States or Associated Countries, including at least one EU Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission city and one Adaptation Mission Charter signatory. The work must involve communities and landowners, measure environmental, economic, social and health impacts, share results with follower cities, connect to the Cities Mission, Adaptation Mission and New European Bauhaus platforms, and reach TRL 7-8.
