Safeguarding linguistic diversity in Europe
Pays research consortiums roughly β¬5-5.75 million to document, map and help safeguard Europe's regional, minority and endangered languages.
This is a single-stage Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action, funded as a lump sum, expected to fund 2 projects from a EUR 11.5 million budget line, each receiving between EUR 5 million and EUR 5.75 million. Proposals need a transdisciplinary approach spanning linguistics, heritage studies, media studies and migration studies, should build on past EU-funded work such as the Euromosaic studβ¦
The call funds research that documents and maps linguistic diversity across Europe's 24 official languages and roughly 60 other regional or minority languages, identifies good practices that promote multilingualism, and explores how digital technologies and AI tools can help preserve endangered languages online. It wants recommendations for multilingual education, intergenerational transmission and combating marginalisation of disadvantaged linguistic communities, including itinerant and stateless groups.
