Women's, LGBTIQ and Minority Rights Under Autocracy, Conflict and Geopolitical Shifts
Funds research projects up to EUR 4 million studying how autocracy, conflict and geopolitical shifts affect the rights of women, LGBTIQ people and minorities.
Beyond mapping and measuring compounded effects on rights, the topic wants projects to strengthen civil society's own resilience and advocacy -- identifying best practices and approaches that expand civic space and counter repression, even inside authoritarian or conflict settings. The Commission wants research examining how democratic backsliding, authoritarian governance, armed conflict and geopolitical crises disproportionately affect groups in a vulnerable situation β women, LGBTIQ people, ethnic and religious minorities, people with disabilities, children and the elderly. It wants proposals that combine SSH disciplines with data analytics to map these compounded effects and develop new methodologies, indicators and monitoring tools that policymakers and civil society can actually use.
