Safe and sustainable alternatives to PFAS

The Commission wants new chemical substances or technologies that replace PFAS — the long-lasting 'forever chemicals' used for water- and chemical-repellence — in at least one industrial application, such as electronics, construction, technical textiles or automotive parts. Proposals must apply the EU's Safe and Sustainable by Design framework and test that alternatives match PFAS performance.
