Control and operation tools for a RES-based energy system
Funds two demonstration projects, worth up to EUR 10 million each, building grid-control tools that let electricity networks absorb much higher shares of renewable power.
A consortium submits a single-stage proposal under the Innovation Action route by the deadline; the Commission expects to fund two projects from this topic, worth up to EUR 10 million in EU contribution each. Each consortium must include at least two transmission system operators and four distribution system operators, and funding is paid as a lump sum tied to agreed work packages.
The Commission wants projects that design and test control technologies letting transmission and distribution grids absorb far more wind and solar power while staying stable, in line with the EU's 42.5% renewables target for 2030. Proposals must run at least two pilot demonstrations in different EU or Associated Countries and produce recommendations for the wider uptake of renewables on the grid.
