The Commission wants new knowledge, models and control solutions for grid-forming inverters (GFIs) that provide synthetic inertia, frequency control and voltage support as renewables take a growing share of the grid. It wants proposals to demonstrate interoperability across different GFI manufacturers and to cover both transmission- and distribution-level use cases.
