NGen Advanced Manufacturing Projects is the flagship co-investment stream operated by Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen), the federal government-designated advanced manufacturing Global Innovation Cluster. The stream encompasses a portfolio of themed challenge intakes — including the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program (AMTP), AI for Manufacturing (AI4M), the Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Value Chain Program (EVMP), the Moonshot for Mining, Minerals and Manufacturing (M4M3), and others — launched on a rolling basis throughout the year. Maximum NGen contribution under the main stream reaches approximately CAD $20 million per project; cost-share rates typically run up to 37%, with specific themed intakes offering higher rates. The portfolio has supported commercialization of AI, robotics, advanced materials, quantum technologies, clean manufacturing, housing innovation, and EV supply chains.

Eligible applicants are Canadian for-profit companies, research-focused privately funded nonprofits, non-federal Crown corporations, and Indigenous manufacturing organizations. A minimum of two Canadian partners is required, with at least one SME (fewer than 500 global employees). Universities and publicly funded institutions participate as subcontractors only. All funded consortium members must hold free NGen membership. Projects must demonstrate value-added presence in Canada through R&D or manufacturing operations; sales-only offices do not qualify. Specific themed intakes carry their own eligibility requirements, budget ranges, and evaluation criteria that supplement the general stream rules.

As of May 2026, the NGen funding page listed no open calls, showing a "Coming Soon" status for the next intake. Interested applicants should contact project@ngen.ca to discuss project fit and upcoming intake windows, as NGen commonly engages with consortia before formal calls open. Monitoring ngen.ca/funding for intake announcements and completing NGen membership before an intake opens are both recommended preparatory steps.

Advanced manufacturing innovation across AI/ML, robotics, advanced materials, quantum, clean manufacturing, housing, and EV supply chains.
