Proposals must develop and test AI and machine-learning forecasting tools that optimise bidirectional, collective self-consumption and flexibility services for energy communities and jointly acting consumers, while easing the load on distribution system operators and improving grid and distributed-asset operation and maintenance. As a Societal Readiness pilot, work must use an interdisciplinary approach — with social sciences and humanities experts helping shape the project's objectives, not just advise afterward — to understand the needs and concerns of the different social groups affected by the technology, including game-theoretic analysis of social interactions. Selected projects must actively participate in the BRIDGE initiative's own activities, not just reference it.
