Restoring Ocean and Waters in waterfront Cities and their Ports
Funds demonstration projects with waterfront cities and ports to restore marine ecosystems, cut pollution and build a circular blue economy in at least eight locations.
Waterfront cities count toward the eight-location requirement only if they have at least 50,000 inhabitants, though ten countries with generally smaller cities get a lowered 10,000-inhabitant threshold: Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Slovenia and Slovakia. The funder wants cities and ports to test and deploy solutions that restore marine and freshwater ecosystems, prevent pollution, or make the blue economy carbon-neutral and circular, with strong citizen and stakeholder involvement.
