MSCA Doctoral Networks 2026
Funds partnerships of universities, research institutes and businesses to jointly run doctoral training programmes for early-career researchers.
Doctoral candidates are recruited as researchers through an open, transparent, merit-based selection process, and their vacancy notices must be advertised internationally, including on EURAXESS, stating whether the published salary rate already includes employer and employee taxes and contributions. The European Commission wants consortiums of universities, research institutions, research infrastructures, companies (including SMEs) and other organisations from across Europe and beyond to jointly design and run doctoral training programmes. Networks should expose doctoral candidates to both academic and non-academic work, teaching research skills alongside transferable ones like entrepreneurship, IP and communication. Proposals may lead to Industrial Doctorates, jointly supervised by an academic and a non-academic partner, or Joint Doctorates delivering a shared degree recognised across participating countries.
