Mobility and Networking Instruments
Administers Lithuanian mobility and networking support through research visits, workshop grants, and summer scholarships.
The Research Council of Lithuania (LMT) administers a suite of five rolling career-development, mobility, and networking instruments open to researchers and students at Lithuanian universities and research organisations. The five sub-programmes are: Funding of Research Visits (supporting Lithuanian researchers conducting short-term stays at foreign institutions), Support for Academic Networks (enabling participation in international research networks), Funding for Workshops and Events (subsidising the organisation of scientific workshops and events), the Article Processing Charges (APC) Fund (covering open-access publication fees so that research results can be published in international peer-reviewed journals), and Funding for Students' Summer Scholarships (providing stipends to students conducting research projects under principal-investigator supervision during summer periods). Each sub-instrument operates under its own call schedule and application process.
Eligibility varies by sub-scheme. Research visit grants, academic network support, workshop funding, and APC subsidies are available to researchers at universities and qualifying research organisations; the summer scholarship scheme specifically targets students working under PI supervision. Individual researchers may also qualify for the research visit and APC instruments. For-profit entities are excluded from all five sub-programmes. Award amounts for each instrument are not published in LMT's English-language materials; most full guidelines are available only in Lithuanian, presenting a language prerequisite for applicants.
Because each sub-instrument has a distinct call schedule, prospective applicants should consult LMT's career development and mobility pages regularly for opening dates. The Research Visits instrument contact is Justina Rukšnaitė at LMT, who can provide English-language guidance; other sub-programme contacts operate primarily in Lithuanian. Applicants benefit from submitting early within each call window, as budgets are allocated per round.
