The European Commission wants innovative street furniture designs that improve comfort, safety, accessibility and environmental performance in neighbourhoods, using sustainable, secondary, recycled or upcycled materials and, where relevant, a digital dimension. Designs must be resilient to vandalism and weather, low-maintenance, and developed through co-design with public authorities, cultural and creative sectors, and local crafters and manufacturers.
