RAISE Doctoral Networks for AI in Science (RAISE pilot)
Funds doctoral networks whose research depends on building new AI tools that push forward a specific scientific discipline, selected through the main MSCA Doctoral Networks call.
Every doctoral candidate in a RAISE network must receive dedicated doctoral-level training on AI in science, not just work alongside AI as a tool. The scientific results have to go beyond a narrow computer-science AI focus — a proposal that would only produce publications in computer-science AI venues, or that treats AI as an off-the-shelf method for data processing or statistical analysis, doesn'…
The European Commission wants doctoral networks where candidates develop, or substantially help develop, new AI systems, models or methods that meaningfully advance their own scientific field, not just apply an existing AI tool for routine data crunching. The AI development has to be a core, clearly identified part of the research work package, with the scientific results directly depending on that AI capability. Proposals must show the work goes beyond publishing only in computer-science AI venues and actually pushes forward the discipline the doctoral research sits in.
