MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships — ISERD)
Supports internationally mobile postdoctoral researchers placed in Israeli institutions to build independent research careers through EU mobility fellowships.
Eligibility · EU member states
The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) are annual European Commission grants that support PhD holders wishing to advance their research careers through international and interdisciplinary mobility. Fellowships run for one to three years and are available in two configurations: European Fellowships (12–24 months hosted at an institution in an EU Member State or associated country such as Israel, plus an optional six-month non-academic placement) and Global Fellowships (12–24 months outgoing to a third country plus a mandatory 12-month return phase in the EU or associated country). The call follows an annual cycle with a typical deadline in mid-September each year.
The host organisation — not the researcher — applies for the grant and then employs the researcher under the fellowship. Eligible host organisations include universities, research institutes, and non-academic entities registered in Israel or another eligible country. The living allowance is €5,990 per researcher per month; Israel carries a correction coefficient of +21.5%, making the Israeli-hosted total approximately €7,282 per month. Additional allowances cover mobility (€710/month), family costs (€660/month), and institutional costs covering research, training, networking, management, and indirect expenses. Researchers must hold a PhD and have no more than eight years of post-PhD research experience at the call deadline; they must also satisfy a mobility rule requiring that they have not resided in the host country for more than 12 months during the 36 months preceding the deadline.
ISERD, Israel's National Contact Point for Horizon Europe, provides guidance, proof-reading, and evaluation feedback for host institutions preparing MSCA-PF applications; full drafts should be submitted to ISERD at least one month before the September deadline. The grant is funded by the European Commission and paid through the EU Funding and Tenders Portal. A host institution may recruit researchers of any nationality for European Fellowships, broadening the talent pool available to Israeli research organisations.
