Dana Peningkatan Usaha Pariwisata (DPUP) is a development grant program administered by Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), now under the re-separated Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) following the December 2024 ministerial split. The program provides direct grants averaging IDR 120 million per village to tourism villages (desa wisata) that have been curated through the annual Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia (ADWI) award process. In 2024, the ministry initially signed cooperation agreements with 24 villages across 12 provinces, subsequently expanding to an additional 18 villages across 11 provinces, bringing the documented 2024 cohort to approximately 42 villages. One documented example is Desa Wisata Bukit Batu in Bengkalis Regency, which received IDR 120 million.
Funding supports three types of activity: tourism attraction development within the village, growth of craft, culinary, and fashion UMKM (micro, small, and medium enterprise) businesses operating in the village, and business management and financial literacy training for local entrepreneurs. Grant disbursement flows to the village's BUMDes (village-owned enterprise unit) or local Dinas Pariwisata (tourism office) manager rather than to individual businesses. The DPUP is not a direct-application grant; villages must first be registered on the JADESTA (Jejaring Desa Wisata) national tourism village network, which automatically enrolls them in the ADWI award competition, from which DPUP recipients are then selected.
The 2024 DPUP round is closed. A 2025+ allocation under Kemenpar has not been confirmed in publicly available materials. Village administrators and desa wisata managers seeking DPUP consideration should ensure their village maintains an active, up-to-date JADESTA registration and participates actively in the ADWI cycle, as ADWI curation is the gateway to DPUP selection. Individual UMKM operators inside tourism villages are not direct applicants but benefit from the village-level grant through training and business development activities funded by the disbursement.
