IH-MIE Open Call 2026

Funds SME-led hydrogen mobility projects moving from prototype to market-ready technology.

A single SME or a consortium of up to three SMEs can apply, with additional organisations allowed to join as unfunded associated partners; each project runs for 12 months and is fully funded. Payments arrive in three instalments -- 40% pre-financing, 25% after an interim review, and 35% after the final report -- all tied to milestone completion.

IH-MIE backs innovation projects that develop, validate, integrate and scale hydrogen mobility solutions across Europe's hydrogen value chain. Each project must tackle at least one of six problem areas the programme has set: how durable and costly fuel cells are, building out refuelling infrastructure, the supply chain and logistics behind it, fitting hydrogen into other transport systems, storing hydrogen on board a vehicle, or distributing hydrogen itself. Technology must start at TRL 6 and reach TRL 9 by the end of the project.
