Strategic Integrated Projects - Environment
Funds large, multi-year projects that drive full implementation of an existing circular economy, waste, water or air quality plan, with EUR 56 million set aside for this topic in 2025.
Because a single strategic project can run for many years, LIFE structures it as a series of phases, normally at least three years each, so the scale of the work can be managed and adjusted as it goes. The LIFE programme wants Strategic Integrated Projects that carry an already-adopted plan through to full implementation across five areas: national or regional Circular Economy Action Plans, Waste Management Plans, river-basin or flood/drought water plans, Air Quality Plans, or Noise Action Plans. A project doesn't have to complete every action in the plan itself, but it must catalyse the wider process and pull in the extra funding and commitments needed to finish the job over time.
