ECOS Nord is a bilateral scientific cooperation program linking Mexico and France through the ÉVALUATION-Orientation de la COopération Scientifique network — the Nord branch covers Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela. Administered in Mexico by the Secretaría de Ciencia, Humanidades, Tecnología e Innovación (SECIHTI), the 2026 call funds collaborative research projects spanning all scientific disciplines and humanities between Mexican and French research teams. The program covers researcher mobility, short stays, graduate student exchanges, and joint research missions between academic institutions in both countries.
The 2026 call was open from April 17 through June 1, 2026, requiring coordinated bilateral applications — one institutional lead on the Mexican side and one on the French side must submit synchronized proposals. Only academic or public research institutions are eligible; private companies cannot participate directly. Specific per-project funding amounts are denominated in Mexican pesos and are detailed in the call's TDR (términos de referencia) PDF, which lists five required documents including a protocol template, CV format, and guidance materials available on secihti.mx.
Competitive teams should download all five attached documents before preparing the proposal and ensure both the Mexican and French institutional leads are named before submission. The information session held on May 6, 2026 may have a recording available via SECIHTI's site. Because award sizes are governed by the TDR and are set in MXN, teams should plan budgets accordingly and coordinate early with the French partner institution to synchronize the bilateral submission process.
