Power At Sea Prize
Pays teams up to $1.5 million combined to build early-stage marine energy systems that supply reliable power at sea.
WPTO has called the CONCEPT Phase one of its most competitive challenges to date, and the prize's own team listings show a gap between the two phases: 20 teams are named as CONCEPT Phase winners, but only 11 of those went on to be named DEVELOP Phase winners, short of the up to 20 the phase could have paid. Across both phases the platform lists roughly 87 teams and about 1,100 individual innovator…
The prize wants teams developing a new system, subsystem or component that generates reliable, cost-effective power at sea for blue-economy uses -- ocean resource monitoring, storm tracking, or marine aquaculture support. It's aimed at ideas that haven't yet had a chance to develop, taking them from original concept to a testable stage.
