Renewable Energy Financing Mechanism - Technology Specific

Pays lump-sum grants toward building new ground-mounted solar PV plants, with or without battery storage, sited in specific districts of Bulgaria or in Finland, from a EUR 54.9 million pool.

ClosedEuropean CommissionBulgariaFinland

A project counts as standalone if it connects to the grid, or to its off-taker if off-grid, through a single connection point. Successful applicants receive a lump-sum grant tied to the project's renewable electricity output, and must report their annual renewable energy production back to the Commission so it can be credited toward the host Member State's statistics. Applications go through the s…

The EU's Renewable Energy Financing Mechanism (RENEWFM) wants project developers to build new standalone renewable electricity capacity — specifically ground-mounted solar PV projects co-located with battery energy storage in Bulgaria's Pernik, Kyustendil or Stara Zagora districts, or ground-mounted solar PV projects anywhere in Finland except Åland. The mechanism exists to help those Member States close their gap to the EU's binding 2030 renewable-energy trajectory.
