The Audiovisual Works Production Incentive (Produktionsstimulans för audiovisuella verk) is a 25% cash rebate programme administered by Tillväxtverket for film and television productions that incur qualifying costs in Sweden. The rebate applies to eligible Swedish production costs — defined as salaries paid to Swedish taxpayers and purchases from companies registered for Swedish tax — and is paid as a reimbursement after those costs have been incurred and documented. The Autumn 2025 call awarded approximately SEK 82.5 million across seven approved applications, illustrating the order of magnitude of annual programme spend.

The 2026 call date had not been announced as of late May 2026; the programme typically runs one to two calls per year. Eligible production types include feature films with a minimum total budget of SEK 30 million, documentary films with a minimum budget of SEK 10 million, drama series with a minimum of SEK 10 million per episode, and documentary series with a minimum of SEK 5 million per episode. The minimum eligible Swedish costs threshold is SEK 4 million. Only for-profit production companies registered in Sweden may apply; non-profits, individuals, universities, and research organisations are excluded. The rebate has no published per-project ceiling — it is calculated as 25% of whatever qualifying Swedish costs the project incurs.

A critical procedural requirement is that principal photography must not have commenced before the application is submitted. Starting production early is a hard disqualifier. Additionally, all non-rebate financing for the production must already be secured at the point of application. Applicants should monitor the Tillväxtverket website for the 2026 call announcement, prepare financing confirmations and detailed Swedish cost budgets in advance, and allow lead time for Tillväxtverket to review applications before their planned start of principal photography.

Provides a 25% cash rebate on eligible Swedish production costs for feature films, documentary films, drama series, and documentary series produced wholly or partly in Sweden.
