Start Up Energy Transition Award 2027
Awards €10,000 to the winning start-up in each of five energy-transition categories.
Applicants pick one category, submit an English-language application with a proof of concept plus a client, partner, or working prototype (TRL 4+), and go through jury evaluation, with a shortlist of 15 finalists and a wider SET100 list announced before the final jury meets in Berlin. Looking for start-ups and young companies building energy-transition solutions across five categories: clean energy and storage (generation, storage, grids, hydrogen, off-grid and last-mile electrification), mobility and transportation (batteries, charging, e-fuels, autonomous vehicles, maritime and aviation), industrial decarbonization (process heat, carbon capture and utilisation, recycling of critical raw materials), buildings and construction (heating and cooling, district energy, building efficiency, circular materials), and energy infrastructure and digitalisation (grid permitting and rollout, AI and machine learning, cybersecurity, data-centre efficiency, quantum technologies). Open worldwide to any start-up working on the global energy transition and climate change; the award has drawn around 4,500 applications from more than 100 countries over its history.
