Techstars is a leading global pre-seed venture capital firm and accelerator network founded in Boulder, Colorado that operates a portfolio of three-month, mentorship-driven accelerator programs across multiple cities and verticals. The Techstars Spring 2026 cohort encompasses programs with application deadlines around June 10, 2026, including flagship programs in Boulder, New York City, and London as well as corporate-partnered programs in areas such as AI Health, EnergyTech, Future of Finance, and Space. Techstars has backed over 10,000 founders across its network, with a portfolio market capitalization exceeding $133 billion and more than 22 companies achieving unicorn status.
The standard Techstars investment is up to $220,000 delivered via a SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity) in exchange for approximately 6% equity, typically structured as $20,000 in direct cash plus a $100,000–$200,000 convertible note component depending on program vintage. Companies accepted into a Techstars program receive access to over 1,100 mentors, curated investor introductions, and the global Techstars alumni network — a community through which 74% of graduates raise additional capital within three years of completing the program. Programs are competitive and cohort-limited; each vertical or city program runs its own selection process.
Techstars programs vary by thematic focus and geography; founders should identify the specific program most aligned with their sector (e.g., Techstars Alabama EnergyTech, Techstars AI Health Baltimore, or Techstars Space Los Angeles). The firm is technology-agnostic at the network level but each individual program typically targets a defined vertical. Founders at TRL 2–5 — with a working prototype and initial user or customer signal but pre-Series A — are the strongest applicants.
Techstars accelerator programs invest up to $220,000 via SAFE in early-stage startups across multiple sectors and global locations in exchange for approximately 6% equity.
