Ofgem Strategic Innovation Fund — Discovery Competitions
Funds energy-network Discovery projects on transmission, gas and outage challenges.
Ofgem's Strategic Innovation Fund opened this round as two separate Discovery competitions rather than one combined call. The Discovery phase carries a £30 million pot, with individual projects able to ask for up to £200,000. A lead applicant must be one of Ofgem's own licensees — an electricity or gas transmission operator, an electricity or gas distribution network, or an electricity system oper…
The fund backs Discovery-stage innovation work that supports net zero goals and lower costs for consumers, in areas such as advanced energy transmission, dynamic modelling, green gas, decentralised system balancing, and cutting energy outages. Discovery sits first in a four-phase process, ahead of Alpha, Beta and Deployment.
