The LifeArc Knowledge Transfer Innovation Fellowship is a 12-month career development programme for early-career life scientists seeking to enter the knowledge transfer and technology transfer profession. Co-administered with ASTP (Association of Science and Technology Professionals) and AUTM (Association of University Technology Managers), the 2026-27 cohort was open for applications as of May 2026, with an application deadline of 31 May 2026 reported by ASTP. Up to 18 fellowships are awarded per cohort, with a minimum of two reserved for applicants from outside the United Kingdom.
This programme provides no financial stipend. The award covers expenses for international travel, conference registration, hotel accommodation, and airfare for designated events only — including in-person gatherings in Seattle (USA) and Bucharest (Romania), with a European training location to be confirmed. Fellows receive two-year AUTM and ASTP membership, access to peer and expert mentoring, monthly fellowship meetings, and optional internship placement support. Eligible applicants must be graduate or postdoctoral life scientists in life or medical sciences with less than one year of knowledge transfer, technology transfer, or business development experience. PhD students in their final year of study may apply. Applicants must be Europe-based, able to travel to the US and EU for designated events, and employed at an academic or non-commercial establishment at the fellowship start date.
Applications require submission of a CV, a personal statement of maximum 500 words, and two letters of recommendation. Incomplete applications are not considered. Because this is a competitive fellowship with a cohort cap of 18 participants, applicants who can clearly articulate a specific career transition goal in knowledge transfer — particularly those with life sciences research backgrounds in LifeArc priority areas such as rare disease, MND, or respiratory conditions — are best positioned to succeed in the selection process.
