This bursary supports researchers returning to an academic research career after a career break. It helps them develop a proposal suitable for submission to the STFC fellowship scheme.

Funding covers reasonable costs connected to visiting a host institution to develop an application for future funding. Eligible costs include childcare or other care, travel to the host institute or meetings, liter…

The PhD and application focus must fall within the STFC core science programme: astronomy; solar and planetary science; particle physics; particle astrophysics; cosmology; nuclear physics; or accelerator science. The bursary supports activities to develop a proposal for the STFC fellowship scheme.
