Datadog for Open Source Projects
Offers qualifying open-source projects free full Datadog access to support monitoring and reliability operations.
Datadog for Open Source Projects provides complimentary, full-platform Datadog access to qualifying open-source communities at no cost. Datadog has operated this program since 2016, when the Apache Software Foundation became its first recipient. Notable subsequent participants include the Python Software Foundation, ElectronJS, Ruby, Packagist.org, Yarn, Linux Mint, Jenkins, RubyGems, and Drupal — indicating a strong track record across foundational infrastructure and language ecosystems.
To qualify, a project must hold an approved open-source license with non-commercial terms, be at least one year old, maintain a minimum of five regular contributors, and be led by at least two maintainers working for different companies. All monitored infrastructure and applications must directly support the project itself. Datadog reserves the right to cap host counts or telemetry event volumes for very large projects. Projects are also expected to inform their community about their Datadog usage.
Applications are submitted via a web form on Datadog's open-source programme page, with an open-ended comment field for additional context. Each application is evaluated case-by-case with no published cohort dates or deadlines. There is no cash component; the benefit is entirely in-kind platform access. Projects that meet the criteria and can clearly demonstrate infrastructure need aligned with the project's operations are well positioned to succeed.
Offers qualifying open-source projects with five or more contributors complimentary full-platform Datadog access to support project infrastructure monitoring.
