Lockheed Martin Ventures
Invests in hardware, aerospace, and defense innovation founders through a corporate venture platform tied to Lockheed Martin.
Lockheed Martin Ventures is the corporate venture capital arm of Lockheed Martin Corporation, one of the world's largest defense and aerospace contractors. Founded in 2007, it is one of the longest-operating CVCs in the aerospace and defense sector. In April 2026, Lockheed Martin's board authorized an increase in the venture fund to up to USD 1 billion, up from USD 400 million in 2022. As of that authorization, the fund had deployed more than USD 500 million into over 120 companies, with 60+ portfolio companies becoming Lockheed Martin suppliers and collectively receiving more than USD 750 million in LM contracts. Twenty-five new portfolio companies were added in the preceding two years.
The fund focuses on dual-use deeptech across five primary sectors: artificial intelligence and autonomy, quantum computing, directed energy (lasers and microwave), microelectronics, and advanced materials. Target companies range from TRL 3 through TRL 9, reflecting the fund's engagement from early-stage proof-of-concept through commercialization-ready technologies. Investment is strictly equity — no grants, no non-dilutive instruments. Portfolio companies receive not only capital but also access to Lockheed Martin's engineering facilities, supply chain, and customer relationships, enabling a clear pathway from startup to defense prime supplier.
Lockheed Martin Ventures does not publish a formal application window or competitive deadline cycle. Companies seeking investment are expected to demonstrate technology relevance to defense and aerospace mission sets. Eligibility skews heavily toward for-profit entities capable of working within defense-sector supply chain and security requirements. The fund's scale, growing authorization, and track record of converting portfolio companies into contracted suppliers make it a high-signal CVC for deeptech founders in AI, quantum, and advanced manufacturing targeting US and allied defense markets.
