Modal Labs Startup Credits is an in-kind GPU compute credit program operated by Modal Labs, a serverless GPU infrastructure company that raised a $355 million Series C round. The program targets VC-backed startups and delivers free compute credits — not cash — redeemable on the Modal serverless platform for AI inference, training, batch processing, and sandbox workloads. The offering is structured in two tiers: a Seed-to-Series-A tier for companies that have raised any VC funding from Modal's partner network (Y Combinator, Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia, Khosla Ventures, Neo, HF0, Pear VC, Lux Capital, and others) or more than $1 million from any VC fund; and a Series B+ scaling tier for companies that have raised more than $30 million or are post-Series B and backed by a partner-network VC.

Benefits include one-time GPU credit grants (structured fields indicate awards from $500 to $25,000 in platform value), direct engineering team support, go-to-market amplification for launches and fundraising, and access to an exclusive founder community. Applications are submitted via the Modal startups page on a rolling basis with no published deadline. Applicants must have a payment method on file, and credits cannot be restacked — once a startup has received credits at a given tier, reapplication is not permitted. Credits do not carry a specified expiration date.

Teams without VC backing from the partner network but with more than $1 million raised remain eligible at the Seed-to-Series-A tier. The program is open globally and focuses on AI and serverless compute use cases. This is a commercial customer-acquisition program, not a research grant; no cash is disbursed at any point.

Provides VC-backed AI startups with in-kind GPU compute credits on the Modal serverless platform, tiered by funding stage from Seed through Series B and above.
