Transport Phenomena (TP)
Funds the physics of moving mass, momentum, energy and heat β fluids, interfaces, combustion, thermal transport and wildfire behaviour.
This programme funds fundamental research into understanding, modelling and controlling the transport of mass, momentum, energy and species across scales. NSF names where advances here land: artificial intelligence, manufacturing, biotechnology, microelectronics, energy generation and extraction, nuclear energy, and quantum science.
Projects can be experimental, theoretical or computational. Theyβ¦
Transport of mass, momentum, energy and species across scales β single- and multiphase fluid dynamics, physicochemical phenomena at fluid and fluid-solid interfaces, thermodynamics and thermal transport including phonon and quantum thermal phenomena, and combustion including sustainable fuels and wildland fire behaviour.
