The Florida Space Research Program (FSRP) is a matching grant programme co-funded by the Florida Space Grant Consortium (FSGC) — a NASA-affiliated consortium administered at the University of Central Florida — and Space Florida. The programme supports faculty-led research projects aligned with NASA's five Mission Directorates: Science, Aeronautics, Human Exploration, Space Technology, and the Space Technology Mission Directorate. The 2026–27 cycle anticipated funding at least 10 projects, with award notification scheduled no earlier than July 31, 2026.
Primary eligibility is restricted to faculty researchers at FSGC-affiliated Florida universities and colleges. Non-affiliated Florida institutions, community colleges, and industry partners may participate only if a FSGC-affiliated institution co-applies and submits the proposal. K-12 collaboration is encouraged on appropriate projects but is not required. The Notice of Intent deadline for the 2026–27 cycle was April 17, 2026, and the full proposal deadline was May 29, 2026. Award amounts and the specific match ratio are detailed in the Announcement of Opportunity PDF available at floridaspacegrant.org; they were not disclosed on the programme summary page.
Applications are submitted through the FSGC portal at floridaspacegrant.org/login. The programme emphasises research with commercial leverage potential — projects that can attract follow-on federal or industry investment — and workforce development priorities. Strong proposals demonstrate alignment with a specific NASA Mission Directorate, involve FSGC-affiliated institutions as lead applicants, and articulate a clear path to winning larger subsequent federal or industry awards. The 2026–27 cycle is now closed; the next cycle is expected in early 2027.
