Future Vision XPRIZE is a $3.5 million-plus creative competition launched on March 9, 2026 that invites filmmakers and screenwriters worldwide to produce an optimistic, plausible science-fiction vision of humanity's future. Sponsored by Google, Range Media Partners (via the 100 Zeros initiative), and Republic Film, and organized by XPRIZE Foundation under Peter Diamandis, the prize is distinct from XPRIZE's technology competitions: it is a film and storytelling award, not a research and development challenge. Any production format is permitted, including live action, animation, AI-generated content, or hybrid approaches.

The Grand Prize is $2.5 million in production funding plus $100,000 cash. Four additional finalist teams each receive $100,000, and a further $500,000 prize is to be announced, bringing the total purse to over $3.5 million. Submissions consist of a three-minute short film or trailer accompanied by a treatment of up to 12 pages and a one-page cover sheet containing a logline, synopsis, and personal statement. The submission deadline is August 15, 2026. Finalists are presented at the Moonshot Gathering in Los Angeles on September 25, 2026, where the grand prize winner is announced.

The competition is open globally to individuals, teams, nonprofits, and production companies; there are no country restrictions stated. Applicants submit through the competition portal at futurevisionxprizes.com. Because the deliverable is a finished or near-finished creative work rather than a technical prototype, strong candidates are filmmakers and writers with production capacity who can deliver a polished three-minute film by the August 2026 deadline. The competition rewards creative vision, narrative plausibility, and optimistic framing of human-technology futures.
