R&D projects

R&D projects is Innoviris's main Brussels program for companies that want co-funding to develop, complete, or implement an innovative product, process, or service. It combines the former Explore, Shape, and Upgrade schemes into one route under Innoviris (Brussels-Capital Region), and it accepts applications year-round. Support covers 15% to 70% of project cost, depending on company size and project type, and the award can take the form of a grant or a repayable advance. Eligible applicants are companies active in the Brussels-Capital Region that are not in difficulty, can fund their own share, and have met prior obligations to the region. The programme is suspended for new calls in 2026, although already submitted applications can continue through the process and may still be funded in 2027 if resources return. The best fit is a Brussels company with a defined R&D project and the internal capacity to cover its share of the cost. It is a practical route for firms that need co-funding for industrial research, experimental development, or process innovation, rather than a call aimed at individuals or research organisations.
