FINEP Equity Investment Funds (Fundos de Investimento em Participações, FIP)

Supports Indirect equity investment in Brazilian innovation startups via managed fund funds, including fund de IA co funded with BNDES.

FINEP Fundos de Investimento em Participacoes (FIP / Equity) is FINEP's indirect equity route under the Brazilian federal innovation agency, Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos. Instead of writing startup checks directly, FINEP selects and capitalizes a fund manager that then invests in eligible Brazilian innovation companies through a participatory-investment fund. The 2026 active call is the FIP de Inteligencia Artificial, co-funded with BNDES and launched on 9 April 2026. It sits inside Brazil's Plano Brasileiro de Inteligencia Artificial and targets AI-intensive startups. Earlier rounds cited in the record include Finep Startup, which reached up to R$1.2 million per company per edital, and sector-specific Funttel participations. The practical route is the fund manager once the fund is operating, so applicants do not apply to FINEP for a direct equity injection. The program is open to for-profit teams registered and operating in Brazil, with Portuguese documentation, and it fits founders that can work through a managed investment vehicle rather than a conventional grant competition.

Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
