Mitacs Globalink Research Internship
Funds Canadian undergraduates on summer research placements hosted by universities across Canada.
Mitacs Globalink Research Internship brings exceptional international undergraduates from 18 partner countries to Canadian university campuses for 12-week summer research placements. The program sits under Mitacs, Canada’s national research and innovation organization, and the placements are supervised by faculty at the host institution. Mitacs covers round-trip airfare, housing, food and incidentals, student enrollment fees, and emergency health insurance, so the support is delivered as a full in-kind package rather than a cash award. Eligibility is limited to full-time undergraduates or combined undergraduate-master’s students who have completed at least two years of study, meet the language and grade requirements, and have not previously received a Globalink award. The 2026 summer intake has closed, and the next cycle is expected for summer 2027. The program fits students who want a tightly structured first research placement in Canada and can commit to a fixed summer window on campus. Its value is practical as much as academic: the host lab gets a prepared undergraduate researcher, while the student gets a funded immersion in Canadian research under a faculty supervisor. That combination makes the route especially strong for applicants with a clear academic record and a good match to a specific university group.
